I can create expository and educational text to client specifications. I am comfortable with projects of any scale, including journalistic articles, features, biographies, original stories, critical thinking questions, instructions, educator activities, interpretive exhibit text, assessment items and complete assessment programs, including performing research as required. I will work closely with the client to tailor the product to suit the target audience. I am skilled in developing instructional and descriptive materials either as part of a curriculum or as standalone publications.
editing
I can serve as editor at any or all stages of a project—performing substantive edits on multiple passes, proofreading, copyediting, or indexing. My editorial experience includes a variety of publications, including fiction and nonfiction books, training manuals, interactive training modules, assessment products, and magazines.
In addition to my experience with books and other hardcopy publications, I am very familiar with the special editorial requirements of electronic media products. Having worked on many online educational and assessment projects, I have expertise in balancing the interdependencies of sound, robust editorial content and the technology used to present it to the audience. I can creatively take advantage of the opportunities of an online format, while recognizing the limitations of the medium.

I have the ability to collaborate effectively with all members of the publications team, working under tight deadlines. I have filled most roles, from independent contractor to manager of small project teams. My familiarity with all aspects of publishing allows me to predict and avoid potential bottlenecks and obstacles that would pose a threat to schedules and budgets.
I am able to shepherd a project from inception to completion, identifying and incorporating client needs, consulting with subject matter experts, maintaining communication with third-party vendors, creating and tracking project budgets and schedules, supervising writers, and coordinating project staff.
